We’re Growing!!!

We now have four sections … that’s right, four sections and we cater for ages from as young as six years up to 18 years (at the moment).  Come along and try scouting – you can come for two weeks free.

It’s been one heck of a busy month – we held a soup and mini-pavlova stall at the Opera at Jimbour House. What a fantastic day and thanks to Wambo Shire Council for inviting us again.

The funds we raised on this day went towards paying for a coach to Brisbane for the 100th Birthday celebrations of Scouting. Did you see JANDOWAE in the Centenary parade?? We had youth members from all our sections and 100% attendance from the Scout Section. What a great day we all had -  and it was wonderful NOT to be driving for a change.

August 11th &12th  - a team of Jandowae Scouts attended the “Nighthawk” competition at Clifton.  Our team did so well – out of approximately 130 teams, they came in, in 19th position.  It’s a long night. They have to hike about 13 kms in the dark, find their way to the bases where their skills are tested in lots of different ways.  Every year, our scouts keep out-doing themselves – well done Scouts!!

The Jandowae Trail Bike Rally was great this year too.  One day of dust and one day of wet which the riders loved.  The Cooranga North Recreation Reserve Committee allowed us to run the Rally on their grounds which proved to be ideal in many ways.  Many thanks to the Committee, to Dalby Moto for their hard work and support, and to everyone else who pitched in.  Special thanks to the trail blazers and Lester and Janelle Mittelstadt who helped it all come together in such a short time. For the first time, we had the mobile Motorcycling Queensland First Aid Van which was an added bonus for the weekend.

What’s coming up – Well, it’s Bring a Friend time at Joey-scouts and Cub-scouts at the moment.  The Cub-scouts are about to go off on their first Pack Holiday in September and seven Scouts and Venturer will be heading to Brisbane during the next school holidays to  assist at Agoonoree which is a camp that gives children with disabilities the fun and opportunities that scouting is, while at the same time gives their carers a little holiday.  Once the scout realises that this camp is not for him or herself, it is for the reward of giving to others less privileged.

DRUMMUSTER is coming up – FARMERS please give us a call and we can arrange a delivery time if the Drummuster date doesn’t suit.  Ring Janelle on 4668 5667 or Di on 4665 7119.
